Hafiz Yakoob Shareef (Honorary Imam)
Hafiz Yakoob Shareef has been a devoted Imam at ISNS since April 1987, bringing his deep spiritual guidance and wisdom to the community.Prior to his tenure at ISNS, he served with distinction as an Imam and Khateeb at Jamia Masjid Hyderabad from 1982 to 1987.He completed his Hafiz ul Quran in Hyderabad in 1975, demonstrating an early commitment to the memorization and recitation of the Quran.In 1976, he furthered his expertise by completing his Qirat studies at the prestigious Jamia Nizamia, Hyderabad.Holds a bachelor’s degree in Arabic from Osmania University, showcasing his strong academic foundation in Islamic studies.Widely respected and admired across the Chicago area’s Islamic centers for his scholarly contributions and leadership.Regularly invited as a distinguished judge for Qirat competitions at prominent Islamic centers, including MCC, IFN, and MEC.Actively contributes to the community by leading funeral prayers and solemnizing marriage ceremonies, reflecting his dedication to serving the needs of the community.In August 2024, Hafiz Yakoob chose to step back to dedicate more time to his family and focus on his health, marking a new chapter in his life.Despite stepping back from his active role, he will always hold a cherished position as an ‘Honorary Imam’ at ISNS, honoring his lifelong commitment and service.It is with deep gratitude and admiration that we dedicate the “Hafiz Yakoob Shareef Corner” at our new ISNS Masjid. This special recognition is a tribute to Hafiz Yakoob Shareef’s remarkable, unwavering leadership and his extraordinary contributions over the years. His tireless efforts have been instrumental in fostering the growth, unity, and spiritual well-being of the ISNS community. This corner stands as a lasting symbol of his dedication and the profound impact he has made on our collective journey.Shaykh Nazir Chahin (Resident Scholar)
- Currently, Sh Chahin is the Resident scholar of the Islamic Society of Northwest Suburbs in Rolling Meadows.
- Muslim Chaplain at Cook County Correctional Facility in Chicago.
- Founder of Muslim Chaplaincy Services.
- Sh. Nazir Chahin was born in Damascus, Syria, in 1969. Graduated from Northern Illinois University with a major in Industrial Engineering.
- Studied under various scholars in Damascus and attended Graduate school at Al Fateh Institute, a postgraduate branch of Al Azhar in Damascus. Earned a Master’s Degree in Divinity from American Islamic College in Chicago.
- Has taught in Muslim schools throughout the Chicago area since 1990.
- Served different masjids as an Imam, Youth Director, and teacher.
- Helped establish the Muslim Youth Center of the Mosque Foundation in Bridgeview and served as its director for 5 years.
- Served as the Imam and director of Orland Park Prayer Center from its inception in 2005 until 2012.
Mufti Mohammed Siddiq Mohiuddin (Imam)
Mufti Mohammed Siddiq Mohiuddin hails from the vibrant city of Milwaukee, WI, where his journey in Islamic scholarship began.Embarked on the profound journey of memorizing the Quran under the esteemed guidance of Qari Noman Hussain, marking the start of his dedication to Islamic studies.Relocated to the dynamic city of Dallas, TX, to commence his advanced ʿālimiyya studies at the revered Masjid Yaseen, embracing a new chapter in his scholarly pursuit.Continued his academic and spiritual journey at DarusSalam Seminary in Lombard, IL, a well-respected institution known for its rigorous Islamic education.Graduated with distinction from DarusSalam Seminary in 2022, reflecting his commitment to academic excellence and deep understanding of Islamic teachings.Achieved ijāza in al-Qirāʾāt al-ʾAshara, an esteemed certification that underscores his mastery in the various modes of Quranic recitation.Deepened his expertise by pursuing advanced studies in fiqh at Darul Iftaa Chicago, where he further honed his knowledge of Islamic jurisprudence.Successfully completed his iftāʾ under the mentorship of the distinguished Mufti Abrar Mirza at Darul Iftaa Chicago in July 2024, signifying his readiness to provide scholarly guidance.Commenced his role as a full-time Imam at ISNS (Islamic Society of Northwest Suburbs) on August 5, 2024, marking the beginning of his dedicated service to the community.Happily married to his wife, who shares his scholarly passion as an ‘ālima, together embodying a partnership grounded in mutual respect and knowledge.Proud father of two beloved children: a son named Ali and a daughter named Safiyya, enriching his life with joy and familial love.
